Enjoy Miles of Paved Trail Without Leaving the City

Fred Meijer Flat
River Trail

The Fred Meijer Flat River Trail is a 4.4 mile paved path, including bridges and boardwalks that connect 2 mountain bike trails and 5 major parks in the City of Greenville. Another 3 miles can be added by circling Baldwin Lake, featuring a public beach.

The Trail winds along the beautiful Flat River, connecting people with many natural resources, such as unique views of the Flat River, transitional forest, and wetlands. The trail provides convenient access to variety of cultural opportunities, like concerts in the park and Community Center events, downtown shopping, historic sites, the Flat River Museum and Greenville Public School facilities.

Many have made it possible
Funding for the trail came through grants from the Meijer Foundation, Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund, Michigan Department of Transportation, the City of Greenville and other private sources.

Part of something bigger
The trail will be extended by 2.6 miles in 2010 completing an 8 mile loop within the City and featuring a tunnel with museum elements. There are also planned connections to trails that will lead to Alma and Lowell in 2010.

We hope your experience will be a pleasant one and that you will come back to visit us often.

  TRAIL ETIQUETTE

  • Stay on the trail at all times; do not trespass on private land.
  • Walk or ride on the right. Allow faster traffic to pass on the left. Groups should allow room on the left for others to pass (paved trail only).
