Welcome to the City of Greenville

Welcome to Greenville! The citizens of Greenville care deeply about their community. This is evidenced by their strong work ethic, dedication to a vibrant historic downtown shopping district, reinvestment in developments and businesses, and their unyielding quest to make Greenville the best city that it can be.

Upon visiting Greenville, you will note a healthy balance among commercial, industrial, and residential areas. Our Public Safety and Public Services Departments are second to none, keeping the city secure and beautiful. The Fred Meijer Flat River Trail is approximately 9 miles long, borders the Flat River, boardwalks through marshland, and tunnels under M-57. We have two museums which honor the area’s history and military involvement in building WWII gliders.

Other evidence of progress and economic expansion is encompassed in a new shopping district at the west end of the city, major housing developments that include apartments, townhouses, single family dwellings, and condominiums. The addition of United Solar Ovonic, a solar panel manufacturing plant, is an exciting new venture for the City of Greenville, with a total of six plants planned for the future. This high tech facility, along with other manufacturers in the City’s Industrial Park, has soundly landed Greenville’s economy in the 21st century.

Recreation includes the Danish Kingdom Playground, Veteran’s Memorial Park, which houses basketball courts, tennis courts, and a children’s play area, Tower Park with its sledding hill (complete with a tow rope), certified mountain bike trails through some challenging terrain, and three lakes, all located within the city limits!

Also noteworthy, is the recent $17 million addition to Spectrum Health United Memorial Hospital; making it a state-of-the-art health care facility. The award-winning Greenville Public School System offers K-12 educational programs that are beyond comparison, while life-long learning is available at the Stanley and Blanche Ash Technology Center; which is owned and operated by Montcalm Community College. Also important to the community are the Flat River Community Library, a modern learning resource facility, and the Greenville Community Center, which provides visual and performing arts, along with a myriad of cultural activities.

Please come and enjoy the commercial, recreational, educational, and health care facilities of a safe, progressive, and vibrant city. In short, we invite you to WORK, SHOP, and PLAY in Greenville, Michigan.

Sincerely,

John Hoppough
Mayor, City of Greenville
